On 5–8 September 2022, Moscow hosted the 9th (28th) National Diabetes Congress With International Participation “Diabetes and Obesity: Non-Communicable Multidimensional Pandemics of the 21st Century” with Akrikhin making a significant contribution.​

The National Diabetes Congress is an annual medical event designed primarily to cover and discuss innovative hi-tech methods to diagnose and treat endocrine diseases. The list of conference speakers and participants is made up of experts from different regions of the country – endocrinologists, general practitioners, neurologists, gastroenterologists, and cardiologists.

During the congress, representatives of the academic community took the floor at a separate symposium supported by Akrikhin and titled “Omnipresent Vitamin D: Beyond Regulation of Homeostasis of Phosphorous and Potassium”. The lecturers, including Professor T.L. Karonova, Doctor of Medical Science, Physician of Superior Merit F.Kh. Dzgoeva, Candidate of Medical Science N.V. Mazurina, Doctor of Medical Science, and E.A. Pigarova, Doctor of Medical Science, depicted the evolution of ideas about Vitamin D in Russia for participants in great detail. The speakers focused on the contemporary methods to diagnose the deficiency and insufficiency, as well as on the role of the “sunshine vitamin” in the development of diabetes.

Akrikhin has placed special emphasis on Vitamin D deficiency and shortage in Russia for many years now. Promotion of collaboration with the endocrine academic community and participation in professional events help maintain the relevance of the subject and effectively share expertise in this matter.
